I am a Person-Centred Counsellor with a background in General Nursing, Career Guidance and community project work experience. I hold a BA [Hons] degree in Social Sciences, a postgraduate Diploma in Career Guidance and a Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling, awarded by the University of Strathclyde – 2006. I draw on voluntary experience gained from over 300 hours of telephone crisis helpline work [both overseas and in Central Scotland] and have over 450 hours of face-to-face counselling practice hours to date. I can work with a wide range of clients with different issues including occupational stress, lack of confidence, infertility issues, complex career decisions, low self esteem, abuse issues, loss & bereavement.

The philosophy behind Person-centred Counselling comes from Humanistic Psychology and has developed from the research and experience of Dr Carl R. Rogers [1902 - 1987].

Person-centred Counsellors aim to fully accept their clients as unique individuals with inner human potential to solve one's own problems; many clients have said that the experience of being able to talk about the way they are feeling without the worry of being judged, has in itself helped them to become more accepting of themselves.
